Hi Dreamvoid,

Have you tried a different brand/kind of discs?

Also, please update your Nero 10 version. There are newer updates avilable for your Nero 10 version.

To do so, open the Nero ControlCenter and click on "Updates" > "Check for updates" and install the available updates.

Best regards,

when you updated the firmware for your drive, did you also update the driver? They're two different things.

I'm a little confused. It says the drive is ATAPI however you're using SATA. ATAPI uses parallel connectors and SATA uses serial. I don't have the technical expertise to understand it. The same error concerning DMA (CRC checking error) appears in all three logs, as you noted.

Periodically run cleanmgr.exe to empty temporary files and the recycle bin and then reboot.

Also, try burning at 2-4 x.

the dvd burner is a lite on 324 and almost anyone who has one its deafult reconized as a atapi, no workaround for that..

so even though it say its a atapi drive its a lite on sata drive..

dosent matter what speed i use slow to fast or media..

driver i assume you mean mobo/motherboard sata drivers all drivers are up to date, since optical deviscses like burners dont have drivers but ussualy use windows drivers..

updatet nero to no avail still same error starting to think it might be the drive thats gone bad but it isent old only burned around 50 dvd discs with it :/

Optical devices do have drivers. The firmware is the operating system of the drive. The drivers allow communication between the drive and the computer. Nearly every drive out there has had it's driver updated for some reason or the other. Windows uses generic drivers which aren't always adequate. It was a big driving factor for SP1 for Win 7.

Hi Dreamvoid,

Do you have the chance to try to burn with another recorder? If so, does the same problem appear?

Best regards,

As you are aware I am concerned over the communication between my PC and that of DVD/CD drives.

I have noted a number of times you have referenced 'DRIVERS', NOT firmware, available from manufactures sites for there units. Whenever I have checked a manufactures site for the 'SPECIAL DRIVERS' I have never found any reference to them.

I believe many years ago it became a general accepted procedure that a the DRIVER within Windows was an accepted routine for ALL Optical drive. ( Generic Drivers ).

Dreamvoid

I assume that you have verified with your PC manufacturer that firmware for the Drive fitted is the correct version. If your drive is a retail version I assume you have used the 'SmartPack' routine to be found on http://www.liteonit.com/global/index.php?o...&Itemid=153 to kept the drive FIRMWARE up-to date.

I have also noted on the following site http://www.firmwarehq.com/Lite-On/iHAS324%2BY/files.html the version for your drive is BLY1 and dated 7th September, 2009.Anyway I have noted that Dreamvoid has not comment on this THREAD since 15/4 so I assume they have either resolved the problem or JUST give up on the situation and found a WORKAROUND.

I can go to vendor websites and find drivers at most of them (LG is a tough one for some drives). I've updated one of my LG drivers. When problems with the Windows drivers crop up, the manufacturers issue new ones. The laptop vendors like HP and Dell provide drive drivers at their websites.

Installing firmware requires a different procedure than updating a driver.
