I have made a bootable usb stick from win98 floppy and XP usb controllers works perfectly even usb mouse/keyboard. For completion trying to make a CD to do the same. USB needs bios access before can use cd does not usually. I am using winimage to create bootable 5.76 m ima file with win95/98 boot sector the ima has to be bigger than 1.44 to accommodate the usb files and i threw in ghost as well. On the winimage side I think I have the settings correct now but on the Nero side under expert settings (version 8.5) not sure what to code no emulation or win95/98 1.44 floppy emulation even though the ima is much bigger (tried no emulation but got disk i/o error not bootable or what to put in the load segement of sectors left as default 07C0 and number of load sectors 1

The cd on boot just gives disk i/o incorrect format system disk.

I have tried many times and failed and they are the exact same files I used to make a bootable USB which is many times easier and have done many times.

Any advice would be useful its really annoying me must be possible its the same files same computer

Hi gray246,

Nero generally supports the creation of bootable ISO discs (CD and DVD), however we are not able to give any support about the content of such discs. We offer a basic boot image (Caldera DR DOS) which can be included automatically to boot discs, but of course it is not possible to provide a boot image that will suite the needs of all customers. Therefore you have the possibility to include another (maybe personalized) boot image to this compilation.

The creation of special discs, such as bootable restore discs of third-party drive backup solutions or so-called slipstream discs containing a snapshot of the currently installed operating system, is possible with Nero, but – as stated above – we are not able to offer any support about the way how the contents of these discs should be combined. Please ask the respective third party software manufacturer for further advice.

To be able to burn a functional bootable ISO disc you need:
- a boot image
- additional booting information (if other settings than the default are required by the boot image)
- additional data.

A detailed description of the process how to create the boot disc can be found in the Nero Burning ROM manual.

For Nero Burning ROM 10:
The procedure is described in chapter 7. You can download the manual from: http://www.nero.com/eng/support-nero10-manuals.html

For Nero Burning ROM 9:
The procedure is described in chapter 8. You can download the manual from: http://www.nero.com/eng/support-nero9-manuals.html

For Nero Burning ROM 8:
The procedure is described in chapter 9. You can download the manual from: http://www.nero.com/eng/support-nero8-manuals.html

For Nero Burning ROM 7:
The The procedure is described in chapter 9. You can download the manual from: http://www.nero.com/eng/support-nero7-manuals.html
