I have two lots of dual layer discs RyDisc+R speed 2.4x and Verbatim+R 8x speed.

Problem is Nero wants to burn RyDisc's at 8x speed and the Verbabtim's at 12x speed.

If I set burn speed to 2x manualy burn a disc and then start to burn other disc, Nero sets the speed up again, and at these speeds the RyDisc fail with too many errors.

is there a way to force nero to burn at a set speed. also I note Nero wants to burn 4GB7 8x discs at 18x.

with a mature version of software you would think it an easy fix.

Which version of nero are you using? What type of files are you trying to burn? That is, which option are you selecting in Express?

In V10, when you start SmartStart, in the opening screen above the Quick Lists, you will see a little down arrow. If you click on that, you can select Options and change the burning speed from automatic to minimal, etc. I don't know if that affects all apps. Nero remembers it for the next time you start it up.

sorry My Version is 10

But that tab was just what I was looking for, it was driving me mad, backing up files from my hard drive to two dvd's as back up.

I set speed burnt one disc and speed was changed on burning the second.

thanks for link

I don't think that it is nero that changes the speed - i think its the drive the chooses the speed.
The drive can accept the speed choosen by the software - but it also can ignore it and choose another write speed.

you can check if there is a firmware-update for your drive.

N.B: What drive are you using? If you have another writer, I would recommend to first test this with another writer.

Greetings, Jens

William295, was your problem solved? I take it that, if you set the default to minimal or one of the others, then the burn speed was changed commensurate with that setting. I asked because you said it changed the burn speed on the second disk and I wanted to make sure that was acceptable.

No problem is not solved.

I will try an other writer, and also find driver update for drive

I will have to take drive out of system as device manager just says DVDRW SATA 20x20x12x ATA Device.

Let us know if the driver fixed the problem. I'm wondering what the settings in Nero are for if they don't work.
