Hi,

Following recommandation of Nero Staff regarding this problem, I just re-installed this morning Nero8 Ultra Edition from scratch (after uninstalling first... naturally!) and took precaution do disable Firewall as well as virus detection as recommended. Install completed successfully. I also applied all updates found by Nero ControlCenter. I also registered my software during install procedure as suggested. Everything completed without any error message at all. BTW, it is installed on a HP laptop with 3GB memory and VISTA Ultimate 32 bits SP1.

As during all day long I didn't encounter any problem at all, now that it is passed midnight, I'm stuck with following problem. This is the same problem I was stuck with before I had to re-install as suggested.

Whenever I start/reboot laptop and then start "Nero SmartStart" by clicking on it's icon, I'm stuck with Nero "Welcome" window/screen asking me to register which I already did... Even if I re-enter all required infos , even if I check or uncheck the Newsletter "option", even if I finally click on the "Enregistrez-vous" button, this ... "welcome" window keeps coming back whenever I start Nero after a fresh laptop re-boot or "cold" startup.

Please find attached to this letter a jpg picture of that screen/window (Nero.jpg).

If anyone has encountered this problem and found solution, I would really like to hear from you.

Hi StephaneB,

have you already updated to the latest version of Nero 8? I suggest you to use the Nero CleanTool first to remove all old Nero registry entries, files and folders and after that to download and install the latest version of Nero 8.

delete the "onlineservices" folder

Hi all,

- For Nero 8 please remane the following file: nosusagestatistics.dll
You can find it here:
C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero8\OnlineServices
Rename the files into:
nosusagestatistics2.dll
Now try to start Nero again.

- For Nero 9 rename the file "nosproductregistration.dll" in the Nero folder
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nero\AdvrCntr4\
nosproductregistration2.dll
Now try to start Nero again.

Does this solve the problem?

Just wanted to add that for V10, the nousagestatistics.dll file is under c:\Program Files (X86)\Nero\Nero 10\Startsmart\Online Services in Vista 64bit. It's probably under Program Files in 32 bit.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled V10 three times due to a minor but ungoing problem and never had a problem with this issue. On the fourth try, I ran into this problem. Renaming the file worked.
