I have tried all day to install Nero 9 Reloaded. I have Windows Vista, deable virus protector. It stops first at 78% when I tried again 76%. I then notice there appears to be things installed, so I clicked on one and it say to reinstall. I have all the Windows updates.

Hope someone can help,

Run the Nero general clean tool.
Run the Windows disk clean tool making sure that "temporary files" and "empty recycle bin" are checked.
Reboot
Turn off anti-virus and the the user account control (in control panel, users).
Try the install again.

Wither,

Ok, I have done all these things ..Run the Nero general clean tool.
Run the Windows disk clean tool making sure that "temporary files" and "empty recycle bin" are checked.
Reboot
Turn off anti-virus and the the user account control (in control panel, users).
Try the install again.

Now it ONLY installs to 7% then the % goes down to 3 or 4%, back up to & 7%. Really it should not take that long to install a program. I canceled and did this 3 times. Is something wrong with the program now? I have never had this much trouble installing a program. Do you have any other suggestions?

It doesn't matter who was the last to reply, just press add reply as usual. I'm going to copy what you just said to the old thread and continue from there.

Try the same instructions except before you run the Windows clean tool,

Search your registry for Nero and Ahead and delete all entries (There will be several, not just 1 or 2)
Delete all Nero files on your C:\ drive (If you have 64bit Vista, the program files will be in Program Files (x86). There will also be files in Users\Administrator\AppData........ You could also do an advanced search of all files, not just indexed files.
then run the Windows clean tool and procede as you did before.

Well Nero 9 Reloaded is installed, Finnally! But with not issues, it was up to about 78% when a message "Window's Installer stop working", then Problem Reports and Soutions pop up, I notice the % would go up about 2% when I x out of the 2 messages, the program kept running but only advance a couple of % then the sames messages appeared. I continued xing out of the two pop up messages until it was 100%. Questions I have is why that happen in case I need to reinstall. When I went to update I noticed InCD is not installed. The appearance of this program is not what my Nero 7 looked liked what happen to the "All In One Start Center" where you can change the appearance? The program looks like a trial or something does not have all the back ground pictures to use in a video. I'm inclosing a attachment maybe someone can tell me if this is what Nero 9 reloaded should look like.

Wither, Thanks for your help I sure appreciate people like you that take the time to help others.

I'm glad you got it installed. Did this happen because of the things I suggested? Just asking in case someone else has a similar problem.

InCd is no longer included in Nero.

The screen you are seeing is the correct one. It is the StartSmart screen. Note that if you click the little fire symbol in the lower left corner, you will get a list of applications which can be launched or go to the toolbox. The StartSmart screen also now has an area where you can add programs for launching without going to the fire symbol.

I trust you used the serial number you got when you purchased the product during the install. It should have also registered the product. Otherwise you would get the trial (same as full version) and you would be asked to purchase it when the trial ran out.

In regards to the background, you have to be more specific about which app you are using and what you are doing.

I like the 7 design better :) Guess What, I did not have any Templates except a couple, so I went to updates to download some. Well I read this below so instead of downloading from on-line, I use the nero disc and went to custom, checked off what I wanted. I have the same problem with "Window's Installer stop working" & Problem Reports & Solutions pop-up. I did not close, just x out of them and it continue to install a couple of %, it took a hour or so to get those Template to install, well at 100% the % dropped about 3% and I noticed at the top it said something about maintance. Then it went back to 100%........Oh NO the program was uninstalled! Now I have to start over :)

Yes what you told me to do worked once I had all the folders and files of Nero deleted. I just don't know why the "Windows installer pops up. This took 3 hrs. sitting to X out so the install to continue. I google the problem and other people are having the same issues. I tried one sugguestion, but it did not help. Now I have to start over. Why did I not get the Templates? I really don't like this change in Nero, the other had so much more and organized to be used so easy. I'm more interested in the Movie making part. It had such a easy set-up to add Titles, buttons, color, songs. So I guess this is not my last visit to this forum. I will wait to hear back from you before I reinstall one more time :) as I will be tied up the rest of the day doing this again.

This below was what I tried to install from disk, like it said I could do in Custom, then it uninstalled everything.

Template Packs for Nero 9

If an installation disc is available:

  1. Run the installer from the Nero 9 installation disc
  2. On the custom installation screen select the template pack you want to install
  3. Follow the instructions of the installer

Please note: Nero 9 Essentials does not support all Template Packs. Upgrade now to Nero 9 and enjoy all you can do with Template Packs for menus and videos.

I had the same problem with installation of templates as you did. I also had a different problem.

I tried to reinstall checking only parts of the program. It was going through the sequence and I kept noticing it was removing things. When I got done, Reloaded was removed, as happened to you. According to Infohelp (Nero Employee), the disk also has the uninstaller so when you try to install only parts of the program, it deletes the whole thing.

But I found that I could just insert the disk and install Nero (with all the default apps checkmarked) without any problem. I didn't have to run the clean tool or anything.

It turns out that the templates (which were x'd out when I went to do the installation) are not on my disk. My advice to you is to just put the disk in and reinstall with the default apps checked. Then download the templates.

Let me know if this helps.

Sounds like Nero has a Big Problem :) I will do as you said. Should I click on Custom and not the first one to install, is that where I know everything will be checked off?

don't use custom. Just let it install the typical files that are checkmarked.

By the way, when you did the first install, it should have asked you if you wanted to register now.

This has to be the worst installer package I have ever come across. I have been struggling with the package for over two weeks now and it's still only partially working. I purchased my Nero 9 Reloaded as a download on 24 October, so I don't even have a disk.

Firstly, I wasted a week trying to get the 'Free' BackItUp and Burn application to work. This is impossible; I just get a runtime error, so that's a waste of space.

Next, I seemed to have Nero 9 installed properly except there was an extremely limited number of templates. After several custom installs where I ticked the appropriate template boxes, no additional templates were found. It would appear these are not included in the distribution media. I eventually found them on the Nero website, downloaded and successfully installed them. Likewise with the Help files which also are not included in the media.

Then I discovered that Nero 9 won't display a picture with AVI files, unlike Nero 6 which had no problems at all. More time wasting trying to provide information to Nero Support. Oh yes, that NeroGetSupportFiles app is a nightmare in its own right. Most of the information-gathering applets don't run properly in the DOS box ("The system cannot find the path specified...") and then it refuses to place the report on my desktop; you have to extricate it from the %temp% folder - that's intuitive, isn't it?

So, no AVI's then, but at least I can convert them to something else. Then I discover that Nero 9 is fussy about where I store my project files (.NVC) including its own Nero folder - "access denied" or some such rubbish. Had to make do with a Public folder under My Documents.

Finally, I foolishly did another custom install to delete those applications I don't need, and started getting the dreaded AdvrCntr4.dll error message! I followed the clean up procedure, stop my AV, stop UAC etc etc. Reinstall again, but now absolutely nothing at all will run. Either an application won't start at all or I get a Fatal Error message, even on StartSmart.

So I've abandoned all further attempts at reinstallation and just rolled back to a Windows Restore point, where at least I've got a part-working Nero 9.

Apologies for the rant, but it really has been a most frustrating and stressful couple of weeks! I will not be recommending Nero to anyone in the future.

Geoff

I finnally got 9 reloaded installed!!!! FINNALLY. I did turn off "Sent a Report" so that did not pop up. At about 60% "Window's Installer Stop Working" pop-up, I did not close I could see the install was still running so I X out of it and it would advance about 2%, continue doing this every minute until it was installed, took about a hour and 1/2. As for as I know its working ok, I just finished adding a Video I made from Windows. Also copied a disk and it work fine, don't know about the other stuff.

I do not like the set-up it's hard looking for things in all the hidden tabs. I perferred the Older design it look more professional. The control center looks like a beginner designed it. I hope I get my money's worth.

I feel everyone's frustions with this Nero 9, don't know if I would recommending Nero to anyone in the future, but I had Roxio no trouble with install be the program was horriable. I like Windows Movie Maker if it would play the whole song in the INRO, no it just plays a part of it. So that's what I liked about Nero.

Wirther, Thanks for your help once again!! I guess I will be good until we meet again and hopfully not to soon :)
