Is there a way to burn a tracked MP3 CD or DVD without pauses between the tracks as you can do in Audio CDs?

Thanks in advance.

The button "no pause between tracks" is in the compilation area.

I cannot see such a button in the compilation area of music data CDs. There is one only in Audio CDs area. Can you please indicate where exactly you found such a button for MP3 files in Nero Express? Thank you.

When you go to express, what do you select after "music"?

Do you have the track properties available? The same pause button is also there.

In Nero Express after selecting music there are the following options available:

Audio CD - Audiobook CD - Jukebox Audio CD - Jukebox Audio DVD - Jukebox Blue-Ray Disc

The option "No pause between tracks" is available only in Audio CD option.

To create an MP3 music file Disc you need to select the Jukebox Audio CD option where "No pause between tracks" is not available.

Please tell me is something wrong with my version and maybe I need to re-download the software?

Thank you.

No more ideas?

Perhaps with another program such as Nero Burning ROM or Nero WaveEditor?

I'm afraid its a limitation of the MP3 format. Basically an MP3 file is composed on a series of frames - data chunks of fixed length - so unless the size of the file is a multiple of the frame size a small section of silence gets inserted to make up the length of the final frame. There is much more detail here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MP3

Its possible to mask the effect if you are editing ripped music by selecting a quiet spot just before a loud sound like a drum beat and cutting the file there but truly continuous sound can't be achieved with a number of MP3 files.

One technique used is to save an album as a single MP3 track and use .cue files to indicate where the tracks begin but this requires support from the player or the player software itself can mask the effect if designed to do this.

At first I'd like to thank you for your support.

I noticed that the tracked MP3 files play continuously on computer players like WMP or VLC as if there's no track. However this cannot be achieved on portable or home MP3 players.

And my question is can I burn an MP3 CD with .cue files and if so can the majority of portable or home MP3 players detect them?

If yes can you please tell me how? Do I use Nero Express to burn both MP3 and .cue into a CD?

Again I thank you.

Check out this in the Nero Waveeditor help-

Automatic pause detection

You can also do fade in's and fade out's.

It doesn't say that MP3's are excluded.

Based on what JimVF said about MP3's, the best I can tell you is to try it to see if it works.

In Nero WaveEditor you can only split the files by inserting tracks and export these tracks to a folder for burning. Automatic pause detection and fade in and out doesn't help for certain type of music that needs to be contineous(eg classical). And yes since there's no button for "no pause between tracks" in the program MP3s are excluded. My question still remains if I burn both MP3 and cue into a CD is it going to work on a home CD player?

Unless the player has specific support for .cue files I'm afraid not.

Using wmp I can sometime hear brief periods of silence between mp3 tracks but if they're more noticeable on the player you are using it is more likely to be down to the player itself.

Mp3 cds are really just a collection of data files managed by the player firmware and almost all players handle them differently - from how the files are shown on a menu to how long it takes to seek to and start playing the next track. Some players insert silence while seeking the next file - others can hide/minimise the gaps by reading ahead of what you are hearing and/or crossfading.

DVD's are different. Provided you start with a continuous file that contains the music you want without gaps - you can then create a chapter for each track. Effectively an mp2 slideshow which needs only one slide which is how the Beatles Love DVD was created. To be compatible with DVD players a DVD would need audio in either uncompressed (.wav) format or dolby (.ac3) format both of which Nero supports - compatibility can still be a bit of a lottery with older players and different DVD makes but I've used this method and it does work.

Just realised you said 'home cd player' - if it is a CD player (not DVD) then the only format that is officially supported is uncompressed - an audio CD is just a container for '.wav' files and any mp3 added to such a CD would be decompressed. If you save the tracks as wave files vefore compiling the CD its possible to edit out silences at the end of tracks or even let Nero do this for you.

I mean home MP3-CD player. I believe I've made myself clear in the previous posts.
