I am a newbie here.

I want to burn a .AVI file on DVD. Problem is dat video can not be played on my DVD player. The video is 720p. My DVD player played other .AVI files quite well. But those playable AVI files are of low resolution. Is there any way so that I can watch this 720p AVI files on my DVD player? Will multi session be there when burning? Actually that non-playable AVI file's size is 1.66 GB. I don't want to waste remaining 3 GB of my DVD-R.

Hi Shubham-aka-Blade,

Welcome to the Nero Forum!

In these cases we always recommend to burn a Video DVD and not a Data DVD. When you burn a Video DVD, video files are converted to the standard Video DVD format, which assures compatibility with external DVD players. You can burn a Video DVD with the Nero Video application.

Nevertheless it seems to me that you want to burn the file to a Data disc, correct? If your DVD player doesn´t support these kind of files, you might also try to recode the video files to another format or using other video profiles. You can try Nero Recode or Nero Video to do this.

Best regards,

Infohelp

Thanks for replying.

Yes I did want to burn that file as data DVD. I have tried to recode dat AVI files to DVD format with other application. But this 1.6 GB AVI file wanted to take 6 hr with CPU meter reaching nearly 100%. 6 hr really long time. So I skipped that process. Is there any option to convert a AVI file to DVD format and save it in my pc?

I have done what you have told. But I saw there is no multisession option in making Video-DVD and it is taking 3.87 GB space in spite of AVI file being of 1.6 GB. Is there any other option to prevent this expansion of the file so that 1.6 GB file can't take a full DVD?

I have come to know dat DVD player only can play AVI Video if video is under 720x576. My AVI video is 1024x720. Is there any option in NERO 11 to cut-off the dimension? If yes, can you please tell the step?

There is so much question in my mind right now that can't figure it out what specific question I will ask. My main objective is to put AVI file in a DVD. There is no problem if I have to convert AVI files to other format, but I also don't want a situation like a 1.6 GB AVI expand to 3.87 GB.

I hope I am able to explain my problem.

I'm a little confused. You say you want to burn it as a data disc but your player won't play a data disc.

If you want to burn a data disc with multisession, just burn it using Nero Express or Nero Burning Rom with multisession specified.

I don't have time to go into more specifics right now.

I made previous AVI files data disk and it played well as the video had resolution under 720x576. But this AVI is big one and resolution is 1024x720. Just tell me how to change resolution of an AVI file and save it as AVI file. Then that AVI can be played in my DVD player.

As Infohelp said, you can use Nero Video or Nero Recode. See the attachment (removed on 20130710 to save space) for Recode: import, choose "Video for PC", "Profile AVI", "Edit Profile", etc.

Here are links to examples:

What I fail to see is a connection between a data disc and the resolution of the file that is on it. All you're doing when you create a data disc is making a copy of the original file. You can do that by copying the file using Windows Explorer. It seems to me it's a player issue.
