I recommend that you send an e-mail to tech support. You shouldn't have a problem with this and maybe you're not the only one. The tough part for them is how to reproduce the problem.

Just wondering if this issue has a resolution. I have had the same problem since I upgraded to Nero vision 11. I have also used nero 8 as my program to upload the dvds. Communication with Nero tech support resulted in the following: Delete nero 8 and run all upgrades. I followed these instructions and nothing changed. I had to reinstall Nero 8 to finish some highlight DVD's I was producing. Here is my process. I make a dvd of a basketball game in Nero Vision 11. When finished I try to upload the new finished DVD back into my computer and save in an external folder for future use in the making of a highlight film. I install the completed DVD into my drive and select Make DVD in the Nero 11 main page. When I select import disk, that's when it freezes up. Very similar to what prior posts have indicated. Have sent all requested info to tech support but no other response. What, if anything, has happened to fix this problem on anyones computer. I am using a Dell i5 Ispiron computer with 8g ram windows 7/64b.

Given the age of this thread, I doubt Bluerock59 will be back to tell us if he made a submittal to tech support and if he got a fix for it.

If there was a generic fix, it would have been in one of the updates.

I just tried in Make Movie and NV disappeared. If I try to start it again, it says it's already running even though it doesn't show up in Task Manager. I'll have to reboot. Problem is that I tried to use a DVD+VR.

I just rebooted and went to Make Movie, and selected Import Disc while a standard DVD-Video was in the drive. It works. Note that I'm using Vista 64 bit.

I Just tried to import disk while in Make Movie and no success. My DVD's are TDK DVD-R's. Apart from this problem I really love Nero 11 for editing. I also have Nero 9 which runs with Nero 8. I removed it a year ago because I was not satisfied with the interface of the program and N8 has always performed well. Could this be a Windows 7 64 bit issue? I purchased a new computer and this is where the problem continued. Prior to this I was on a small Dell running Windows XP Professional. I was also not successful in importing disks in Nero Vision 10 while on the XP OS.

Was there any commercial content on your DVD's such as downloaded or purchased audio files?

No, the audio was my own files taken from actual music recorded by me of the school band. Rest of audio was typical game noise. Nothing taken from other sources. When I brought these files back into Nero video 10 or 11 after importing via N 8 there was no problem importing a file.

Do the DVD's made in v8 have, any effects, transitions or a menu?

Do something for me. Open Burning Rom in v11 and select Import DVD. Can you import one of your DVDs?

The videos made in v8 have similar transitions but no menu.

In opening Burning Rom v11, the program recognizes the DVD to be copied or burned in DVD or DVD-Video options.

I wanted you to actually import the DVD into Burning Rom. Can you do it? I was thinking there are backwards compatibility issues with the effects, transitions, etc. in NV. They shouldn't be an issue in Burning ROM.

If you create and burn a similar project in v11, can you import the resulting DVD?

I couldn't find that type of selection. I simply tried to burn a dvd withing the program among the various options. My DVD was recongnized and imported as part of the copy function.

Any DVD I have created in v11 cannot be imported as part of the "import disc" function of making a new DVD while still in NV11. All other aspects and performance requirements within Nero 11 platinum seem to be fine. I also deleted NV11 and reinstalled thinking this was part of the problem but still had the problem after the reinstall.

I was advised by tech support that Nero 8 was not compatable with Win 7 64b but I find that not to be the case. I have produced several DVD projects when other DVD medium has to be imported and it does a fine job. I just don't have the functionality that NV11 offers. I am at the point where I will just live with this and hope future updates or upgrades may finally offer a fix. Appreciate your interest and input wither.

I couldn't find such an option but tried to copy within various dvd options and all recognized the disk.

I cannot import any DVD I make back into a Make DVD or Make Movie selection within the Nv11 program. I also take old VHS home movies and burn onto a DVD+R/W. During this process I edit the video and may end up with several tracks. Cannot import these media off the dvd+r/w either.
Thought I had lost the first response. This is just another thought on your response today.

This is what I'm talking about (sorry there are two screenshots of the same thing). Note that when you burned the VHS to disc, you created a DVD VR. You should be able to import that but another person, and myself, have found that not to be possible. I haven't evaluated it yet with another version of Nero.

OK, Nero recode did recognize my DVD and imported into program.

Prior versions of Nero, i.e. 9,8,7 etc. were no problem importing the VR media made from vhs tapes.

I agree about importing dvd vr in nero vision\video. I'm going to try it again tomorrow in v9 and v11.

It's late and I'm on my second black russian so I don't have any comments about the effects of transitions from previous versions.

Yesterday I received an email from techsupport apologizing for this late response from my last email on this subject. They requested I make a dump file and send to them to further analyse this problem. Problem is that I cannot email the file to them as its too large, 78mb. Any suggestions? I have asked them for suggestions as well. Thanks.

Both Recode and NV in v11 choked on importing my DVD-VR. That DVD doesn't have any Nero effects, transitions, etc. I'll be sending them an e-mail.
