I want to burn a Data CD. I go through the procedure of selecting the files I want to burn on a CD and when I go to click on the Burn button, I don't show my DVD/CD burner.... only something called "Image Recorder [CD-R/RW]." I don't have a drop down selection. Clicking on the down arrow only gives me the same.

I have encountered this problem in the past but can't recall how I got my DVD/CD-R drive recognized. In the Configure portion and any other part of Nero Express lists my DVD/CD-R drive OK. I've been working with this for two days and ready to pack it in!

No doubt this has been addressed here in this forum but I simply don't have any more time to waste prowling through page after page of questions/answers.

I would appreciate any help you can offer!

Karl

Hi KarlAibling,

Can you please upload a screenshot of Nero Express displaying the problem and an Infotool?

This should help us understand the problem.

Thanks and best regards,

Infohelp

In addition to what Infohelp asked for, is the size of the project shown to be within the available space on the CD? If it exceeds the available space on the disc, Nero won't be able to burn to it and that would cause only the Image Recorder to be available.

Infohelp, all......... First of all, the project size was 234MB, well within the capacity of the CD. I wasn't familiar with the "Infotool" but I finally figure that out.

I uploaded that information as an attachment. I'm not sure if this is the correct procedure and so if it isn't, please advise me.

As for a "screenshot" of the problem, I don't even have a clue on how to do that. Please advise, and thank you for being here! :-) I thought perhaps this forum might not be followed as I have found on other forums down through the years.

Karl

Hi karl-

The screen shot doesn't appear in your last post. Did you upload it?

Note that the Infotool indicates that the drive can't write to just about any DVD. In this case, the best thing to do is to go the manufacturer' website and check for a later driver or later firmware. This should resolve your cd problem.

Sorry for the dealy but tried to download updated drivers for my DVD/CD burner. No joy. The drivers that I find "are not for my drive." The computer came with this drive and the Recovery Disk. Will try reloading drivers from the Recovery Disk and Plan B will be to go to Dell forums and see if I can get updated drivers there. I recall doing this many years ago with my original Dell PC. Things has probably changed since then though.

Sorry about the screen shot of the problem. Let me try that one again.

Karl

OK, the uploaded file is a jpeg. Says below that the "Upload successful and is available from the 'Manage Current Attachmenets' menu

You can get drivers for Dell computers here- http://support.dell.com/.

It might be beneficial to post a screenshot of the Compilation screen.

Before you do any of the above, disable Kaspersky, including all its security features and then try a burn.

Hi KarlAibling,

You have a very old and discontinued version of Nero 5.

I suggest you to download and test the Nero 10 trial version. Does the same problem happen with Nero Burning ROM?

Best regards,
