Why cant I take a file from my camera that formats in AVI and lets say its size is 2 MB and I need to divide it into 2 sections 1 and 2 to reduce its size for upload in half while keeping the same quality in both edits.

I know how to edit and cut out segments. But my problem is if I edit 1/2 out of a 2 gig video one would expect a file 1/2 the size but when I save the video in AVI no compression using the same aspect ratio it more then doubles in size from the original.

I can reduce the size by using WMV or other formats. but the quality is always compromised.

Their must be a way to keep the same format and edit out segments keeping the same quality and size relative to its edit.

The only way I can think of is to disable SmartEncoding in the Recording Formats Options. Note that an .avi is just a container format. The format of the video and audio within can be almost anything.
