 Basic LP to Nero recording trouble |

In 2006 I purchased software & hardware from ADS Tech with which I could record my LPs and Tapes to CD using Nero6 sofware and a hardware device that plugged into the output jacks on the player and into the USB port on the computer. I have just bought a new PC with Windows 7 operating system. I soon realized that the old program will not work with a 64-bit processor, so I purchased Nero 10.
I am using Nero SoundTrax and cannot record the output from my player using the original hardware. No signal is received. Help! |

Go into Soundtrax and open Options, Device Settings and check which options are available. I know some times it's best to select the two channel options.
You could also go to Control Panel and check the Device Manager to see what the settings for audio are in your audio manager. I'm interested because I have the same software from 2008 but haven't used it on my Vista 64 bit computer. |

Is the USB adapter supported by Windows 7?
Do have drivers for it? Is it listed in the Device Manager? |

I have checked. The input device is "Stereo Mix (Realtek High Definition Audio)", and the output device is "Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)". |

The two options listed for the Audio Input Device Settings are "MME: Stereo Mix (Realtek High Definition Audio)" and "MME: (wave mapper)".
The five options listed for the Output Device are: MME:Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) MME: Realtek Digital Output (Realtek High Definition Audio) MME: (wave mapper) Direct Sound Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) Direct Sound Realtek Digital Output (Realtek High Definition Audio) |

I don't know where you're looking.
As alluded to by BeBiMa, when you plug into your USB port, does Windows recognize the device? In Control Panel, you might have to change the default input device from Microphone to the USB port. Make sure there are no problems in Device Manager for this port. I've never done this so I'm flying by the seat of my pants. Maybe Infohelp will see this in the morning. |

Hi flatrat6,
Nero Soundtrax will only display what is enabled in the Windows "Recording" tab. If this option is not displayed then it might be deactivated by default. To activate it, proceed as follows: Open the Control Panel (in "Classic View" mode). Double-click the "Sound" icon. Click the "Recording" tab. Here you can see the currently activated devices. Right-click in the field to open the context menu. Select "Show Disabled Devices". Now the list should allow you to select your UBB device. Select the disabled option and right-click on it to select "Enable". If this doesn´t work, i would check if you have the drivers for your device installed on your system, if they are actuall, updated and compatible with Windows 7. Best regards, Infohelp |

I must admit I am not fully conversant with Windows 7. But read the posts you mentioned using a USB hardware device and software to input your info. All the replies seem to tend to to wards the available facilities within Win7 and its facilities, plus Nero options. I take it you have installed the software that came with the device and verified there is not any update to this software. I feel that as a USB is being used, it would be like using a USB printer, you will need some software to recognise the USB option. |

Nero recognizes and supports USB devices. The question is if Windows 7 recognizes this specific device or not. If Windows 7 doesn´t recognize it, how should Nero? This would be the first that we need to find out. Nero WaveEditor and Soundtrax display exactly what is activated in the Windows Recording Tab. If it not active there, Nero will not display it either.
Is the USB device listed in the Windows "Recording" tab? Regards, Infohelp |

Regards, Infohelp This is the point I beleive I trying to convey, if Windows 7 setup does not recognise the USB device then a user can not expect Nero. I must admit the info supplied above did not indicate the presence of a USB device.
