Using Win7 x64, have ATI PCIe 650 TV Wonder, and have struggled for 2+ hrs trying to get ATI Catalyst app working, just get 'no tuner installed' errors..

Launched NERO 7 Premium app (came on PC), and Whalla, the setup wizard shows my analog TV chnnl3 briefly in its scan! So cool to see the chnnl appear and I then let scan run 10+mins to fini. Just 1 chnnl avail frm our cable box, chnnl3.

However, no cigars yet, getting error trying to view Live TV: "Initialize TV Playback failed, .. make sure hardware correctly connected..''. Having the scan find chnnl 3 must mean I'm close here?

Actions I've taken so far:
Stopped Win Media Center services - don't want that app, would remove it if doable
Ensured I have latest ATI (AMD) Drivers for Win 7 - have both drivers and catalyst app
Am seeing the 'ATI ... AVStream' drvr in video part of device mngr

I could uninstall ATI Catalyst if its conflicting
Really disliked ATI Catalyst app and fining Nero Home am enthused to get this all working (Mainly to record to MPEG2 format files to share among other PCs (unlike Win MediaCtr that won't create shareable files..), Hoping Nero home app can..)

Thx for pointers

v7 and v8 are not Win 7 compatible. V9 is Win 7 compatible starting with v9.4.26. I don't know at what point NMHOme became Win7 compatible but suspect that's the issue.

I also don't know if it's compatible with your tuner card.

I recommend that you download the Trial version of Nero Media Home and see if you get the same problem. It's available at nero.com\Products\Nero Media Home 4.

Thanks. Have now installed the Nero HomeMed 4 trial. Quit a different flavor, really centers around sharing to network & all. The main menu and interface is sure diff frm Nero 7 Premium. I did the TV wizard and it again found my one analog chnnl during scan (it showed pic and sound too). Now, the TV choice on left shows all greyed out options on rt, the wizard not an option. I suspect I should see more on this main menu for viewing TV, recording, etc. The right window pane is mostly empty. Got a hunch its not liking my ATI card install either. Rather a tease showing the chnnl working in setup but not being available afterwards. Will be researching a bit since this ATI PCIe 650 is supposed to be fine in Win7. Nero app's are sure my first choice for TV recording.

12pm updt:
On Nero HM 4, I'm finding I can enter the TV setup wizard when I tun off the server in lower left. When I specify Composite input, it shows my ATI card TV input just great, appears AOK. I have not seen how to launch live TV viewing tho. Only have that wizard option for the TV usage. Is the TV Viewing/recording supposed to be launched from the main window having the Icons/options down the left side?

Thx again

After you found your TV channels and made all the appropriate setting for video and audio and finished, did you find the Enable TV Streaming? Take a look at section 9.1 of the NMHome 4 help file. You can view it at nero.com\Support\NMHome 4\Manuals.

Also note that NMHome may not be compatible with all tuner cards but it doesn't seem to be a problem in your case.

OK, getting closer. So to view live TV, one needs a PNP player listed here: http://www.nero.com/enu/mediahome4-supported-devices.html
They are: Linksys® KiSS 1600, Philips® SL 300i/400i, D-Link® DSM-520, Xbox 360®, PLAYSTATION®3

Darn, we're a WII family (Kids are..) Have no such player. I do see in Win 7 Media Player there is Nero Home Media content but not for Live TV. In the TV Wizard, I'm getting no options to specify recording format/location, likely due to my ATI PCIE 650 card having 'issues', or possibly due to the Trial version not providing this portion. The wizard only shows that channel is received OK, allows naming it.

My need is to record DVD qual MPEG2 files using ATI Tuner Channel 3 fed from CableTV Box Analog w/ composite cables so need an App to record with and ideally schedule these. That ATI PCIe 650 did great audio/vid quality thru composite cables using Win XP, am about ready to give up. Likely its time to shop for a new Win7 TV Tuner card, likely WinTV PCI and use that clunky app (But not Win Media Ctr as it wont allow saving MPEG format files for sharing out)

Or - I should Pursue another Nero Win7 compatible app that might accept my ATI PCIe 650 and do the Mpeg2 recordings?

Cheers

In Nero Video, you can capture from a TV to your hard disc. Again, it's possible that all cards are not supported. The list you see at nero.com is only those that have been tested.

Did you take a look at the help file?

I recommend that you send an e-mail to tech support to get a resolution since I don't do the kinds of things you're trying to do.
