I am trying to install a newer version of Nero on my XP system. The install says it found the old version, (version 5), but can't remove it, and to use Windows Add/Remove Programs to do it. This fails, asking for me to install a CD which I do not have. What do I need to delete in order to move forward with this?

If you trying to install v10 or v11, it shouldn't be an issue.

v9 and earlier don't use a Windows installer so, trying to uninstall from the Control Panel, won't work.

The proper way to remove v9 and earlier is using the General Clean Tool. Go to Nero.com, Support, Nero v6. Select tools and utilities. Download the general clean tool and run it. Since you already tried the Windows Uninstaller, the general clean tool may say it couldn't find anything. Tell it to run anyway.

I've downloaded that tool and tried it. It says it can't find anything, but doesn't give me the option of running it anyway?

I forget the exact options when that screen comes up. Can you post a screen shot? I hate to have to start you down the path of registry editing, etc.

Which version of Nero are you trying to install?

The tool starts and a green "progress bar" starts crawling left to right. The program then exits with a regular Windows alert window type thing that reads "No Nero products detected or nothing selected for clean. Exiting Nero General Clean Tool" and has an OK button only. It has never asked for anything, so I am not able to specify what I want to clean. I can post a picture of the box but I can't right now, my graphics editor is "updating", and seems to be taking an age to do so.

Can you do a system restore to before when you tried to uninstall v5? If so, I would recommend that you do so and then run the general clean tool.

If you can't, run regedit.exe. Select File\Export and save your registry using a name and location you can remember. In Hkey_Current_User\Software, delete the Nero folder if it's there. Also, if you have your v5 serial number, you should search for it and delete it. You might also search for Ahead and delete entries.

Hi, Adrianxw,

Please check the following points to delete old Nero version:

1. Delete Nero from the directory "Program files", if applicable

2. Delete Nero from the directory "Common files", if applicable
3. Delete the files stored in the folder "Temp"
4. Delete Nero from the registry, if applicable
5. Reboot your computer

If you still have the problem, please contact techsupport@nero.com

Best Regards,
JokeySmurfLC

Deleting the Ahead directory and registry entries have allowed the installer to go further. It has not installed however, it asks for info which I do not have, serial number for example. It is version 6 I am trying to install, because the instructions I have for another issue were written back then and refer to options and or menu choices that may not be available in other versions.

How did you get v6? If the cd came in a jewel case, the serial might be on it. You could always ask tech support at the chat line or by e-mail if they'll give you a serial number.

Have you considered buying v11. It's not very expensive although you have to check to see if your system meets the system requirements.

Downloaded it, no case. I can ask, the instructions I was following are Nero 6. I looked but the instructions did not apply to Nero 5, I don't know about later versions, since I have not had 6 running yet. Burning CD's is something I do once or twice a decade hence my old version. My requirement is to make a bootable CD with Windows XP on it slipstreamed to at least SP2 - the CD I have is my original XP install, and it would not run, asking for SP2.

I would look at using the free download of Macrium Relect. The only issue I see is I don't know if it will create an image to a CD. I don't normally recommend a product different than Nero for this purpose but I'm not sure you can accomplish what you want in v6.

A pandora Beads name has become a leader in the world of jewelry. Having humble origins in 1982 in any small town outside Copenhagen, Denmark it has become a world leader in the jewelry marketplace. A signature piece to their Pandora Charms line is the pandora charms Pendant. This bracelet has revolutionized charm bracelets even as we know them. Instead of any dangling charms we now have know for decades Pandora has generated a unique product whereby the necklaces are screwed to the bracelet thereby eliminating the traditional "dangling" charm. Another one of the feature that pieces the pandora canada independent of the rest is the nation's secret clasp. Though it are usually tricky at circumstances to open it should enhance the beauty of the bracelet as well as ensuring the bracelet stays within your wrist. There are certain features that leave the Pandora Charms Australia far different out of its predecessor. The first may be the ease in which charms is often changed. It takes merely minutes to switch the charms to fit the desired affair or style the wearer hopes to portray. You can layout them for formalised or casual periods, you may design the theifs to fit certain holiday season, or just in good shape whatever mood you are in. The second plus is that by reinventing the actual Pandora Jewelry with something much more practical in mind it's not essential to worry about totally free hanging charms receiving snagged which in many cases could cause the charm to get lost or the bracelet to get broken. Each bracelet is definitely divided into 3 sections separated using a small threaded section. The threads help you screw individual expensive jewelry onto any section of the bracelet.
