I ripped the tracks from a home made concert CDR to my hard drive with EAC. When I add the wave files and burn the compilation with Nero Burning ROM 11 to a Fuji CDR it won't play in my stand alone Sony DVD/CD player, but if I use copy disc option instead it plays. If I use Nero Express to create the compilation it plays. What am I missing?
Audio options used are no pause between tracks, CDA file straegy is default, read speed 48x, audio read speed cache track on hard drive before burning, advanced is remove silence at the end of audio tracks, burn action is write, writing speed is maximum, method is disc-at-once, super link. Track properties pause is set to 0. Please advise. Thanks. |

Without seeing the log file, I would suggest trying a burn at 16x or 24x. I'm assuming you're using Audio CD in both apps.

I tried again using a CDRW, which my DVD player plays with the same results. The CDRW burned at 4x. I have attached the log as you requested. With the CDRW and the CDR my Sony player flashes C 13 71 and won't play the discs.

I'll give you my take on this.
It appears that all your files are Bruce Springsteen and are probably protected. if so, you can't burn them. as an audio CD. From what you're telling me, it does copy them to another disc. That's inconsistant with the protection issue since Nero does not support any kind of burning of protected media. Go figure. One thing that I don't understand is that the log says it requires a CD-R\RW and it doesn't recognize whatever disc you used. It shouldn't matter whether it's CD+ or CD-. |

The Bruce Springsteen files are from an unofficial CD-R I traded for, so I didn't think they were protected. But if you are correct how does one create a CD-R that will play on stand alone DVD/CD players?
I tried the same files again using a Fuji CD-R (log attached) and creating the compilation with Nero Burning ROM at 16x and it not play in the stand alone Sony DVD/CD player. I took the same files and created a new compilation using Nero Express at 48x this time and it plays (log attached). Please take a look at the two logs. Thank you for your help with this issue.

There are some differences between the two logs, but I don't know the meaning.
It seems that BurningRom burning is set-up with some different option versus Express. If you try the "BR cd" in your PC, does it play? Adriano |

Looking at the two logs, all the bad stuff is identical. If its not a protection problem, I suggest you get a different batch of discs since the ones you're using appear to be flawed. The area of the discs which contains information for controlling the burn contain invalid data.

The CD-R plays fine on my PC and a friends car player, but his Mac won't recognize it. The question remains why do CD-R's burned with Nero Express play and not play with Nero Burning ROM. My work around is to use Nero Express, but I payed for the full featured Nero Burning ROM. Appreciate all the comments, thank you.

From what i can find on the web, the error code you're getting on your Sony player is indicative of a lens problem. One user had to have it replaced. It might be it needs to be cleaned with one of those lens cleaners. Just wanted you to know what my research revealed.
This is a complicated problem. As I mentioned before, the logs indicate a problem with your discs, despite the fact they work when you use express and not Burning Rom. Could you go to nero.com\downloads\nero free tools and download the free nero discspeed and then run the Benchmark and Create Disc functions with one of your discs to see if you get any problems? This is also a strange problem because you said that making a copy in Burning Rom works but making a compilation and burning it results in a problem. Nero Express doesn't have the problem. Express is basically the same as Burning Rom with a more simple interface. The difference between making a copy and making a burn using a new compilation is that, in the latter case, the program has to convert all the files to audio CD format and then structure the disc. It could be that there is a problem with one of the files in converting it to audio cd format. If you burn a disc in Burning Rom using a different set of audio files not ripped from a disc, do you have the same problem? |

I'm away from my pc until this weekend, but I will download the free nero discspeed and then run the Benchmark and Create Disc functions and report the results. I have tried other files with the same results. Rip the CD-R, burn the new CD-R and it plays on PC, but not Sony DVD/CD player. Thanks again for trying to help me figure this out.

also keep in mind that many CD players do not like CD-RW...
Adriano Edit at 02:02 AM (DST) I try to verify the difference between the logs you've posted in post #5 of this thread: you can see it in red in the attachments (I've modified yours). I did the same process as you with NBR and NExpress and I compared the logs I've obtained: no difference. So maybe there is some option setted in different way when you utilize BR. If you're interested in knowing why this happens, then please describe all the steps you did in BR job. I think that NeroExpress is just a subset of Nero BurningRom, with a simpler interface, so you must not worry about what you payed for, I thnk you have it, and if you whish we can discover the reason why this has happened. Here are my settings for NBR made at the start:
New compilation:--> Audio CD Tabs: Audio CD: nothing selected CDA Option: CDA file straegy is default / read speed 48x / cache track on hard drive before burning / remove silence at the end of audio tracks Burn action: Determine Maximum Speed / Write / Finalize disk / write speed is maximum / Write method is disc/session-at-once (Not Disc-at-once/96) / Buffer underrun Protection. I don't have any choice for superlink. Then I just select the songs to burn and I burn . Adriano |

You didn't say what the results of using SpeedDisc were.
In general, if you burn a project and it plays on your PC, then the disc was burned properly. Try the problem disc on someone elses player. |

wither
In your last input you quote SpeedDisk, I take it you meant Nero DiscSpeed. adrianob2 You mentioned about 'Finalisation' when burning. Surely this is one of the queries that I have raised in other THREADS. I understand that a disc has to be FINALISED for it to be used on Standalone DVD/CD Player or other equipment. Thus it it is not 'FINALISED', I believe it will only play on the original system |

You're right, but he can play the CD in some player, that's the reason why I don't look in that direction Adriano |
