After installing Nero 11 Platinum, I uninstalled Nero 10. Unfortunately, now when I open Explorer and right click for the menu or right click on the desktop, I get a pop-up that says "This program requires the file advrcntr5.dll, which was not found on this system". I have tried uninstalling and re-installing 11, but to no avail. I have also found various posts, but they do not seem to be directly relevant. How do I get rid of this annoying message?

How did you uninstall v10?

Go to Task manager. Under Applications, is any Nero program running? How about in Processes and Services.

I don't remember now - but if the option was in Control Panel/Programs and Features, I would have used that. Otherwise, I would have used an 'uninstall' program in the Nero 10 folder. I should point out I've been living with this issue for quite a few months, but have finally gotten annoyed enough to look for help!

Running in Processes is mssysmgr.exe, a component of Photoshow 5. Running in services is NAUpdate, Nero Update.

Photoshow is part of Roxio. I wouldn't think it would use a Nero file.

Look in Programs and Features and see if Nero MultiMedia Suite 10 is listed. Perhaps you could post a screen shot of which Nero things are there.

At the time I bought it, it was a Nero Product. I had no idea it has changed hands!! The three items in my Programs and Features that are Nero related (by their names) are:

Nero 11

Nero Backup Drivers

Nero Photoshow Deluxe 5

I have attached a screenshot showing these 3.

Hi Z-ionis

Nero Photoshow Deluxe 5 is an old product that was discontinued according with http://www.nero.com/enu/support-nphotoshow.html

"Effective June 16, 2008 Nero will no longer be offering the Nero PhotoShow line of products. Email support for this solution will be offered through May 1, 2009. Nero is continuously evolving its product offerings in response to customer feedback and has built a robust photo solution based on these comments within Nero 10 Suite"

I don't think that this is related to your issue.
"advrcntr5.dll" is used by previous version of Nero, maybe Nero 10. I think that the Unistall of V10 should be done Before installing V11, or never, as you can have the two version side by side. (Nero 11 utilizes C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Nero\AdvrCntr6.dll).

Anyway is not your concern, for me it's an issue of installation/removal procedure.
I hope that wither will agree with me: I think the best is to submit this issue to T.S. because it seems to me that you have some wrong link in your application (Video and BackItUp(?)), and I think that we can't help you. Maybe it's enought to remove and reinstall V11, but I fear that this will not succeed due to the existing problem. So my suggestion is to contact T.S. at chat line and give them the link to this thread to avoid time of explanations. They can have a quicker solution...

Please keep in touch and tell us the solution, or any questions you can have

Regards
Adriano

Adriano,

I will contact tech support. I had already tried an uninstall/re-install of 11, and it didn't help.

Yes, that .dll file is used by v10. If you run msconfig.exe and look in Services and, also, Startup, are there any Nero items? Disable any Nero items and reboot.

I think Photo Show was replaced by PhotoSnap in v8.
