Sorry, something weird happened.
I have a very old version of Nero Express(6.3.1.6), the one that came with my CD/DVD burner. It has a button to allow multiple burn sessions, but when you try to burn something new in a new session, it seems to "hide" the file or files from the first session. There is a warning that the first files won't show up in Windows Explorer, but you can't see them anywhere, even in an MP3 player. Obviously, I should download an update. But has this been fixed in newer versions? Or am I doing something wrong? Thanks, Paul |

Update to the latest version of Nero 6 - link and see if that makes a diff - there's quite a few fixes from the version you're using.
Usually when I do a multi session - I can still see the files - they just look kinda grayed out (hard to explain). Update the firmware on your burner if it's not up to date. Use quality media and try burning at have the rated speed of the disc. Also depending on what you are trying to burn could be why they are not showing up in the mp3 player - some players may not like a disc that isn't finalized. |

The problem you experience is that you do not continue your multisession but you create a new one every time. This will cause that the files which have been burned previously on your disc are not accessible anymore using the Windows Explorer. If you are using Nero Express you must be sure that the disc with the first multisession is already insert in your recorder before starting Nero Express. Then Nero Express will regonize the session which is already stored on the disc and offer you to continue it.

This is not related but am going to ask since it is Nero 6.
I have had 100% good luck with "6" but am having disasterous results with version "8". I would love to go back to using my "6" but it says it no longer supports MPEG 2? which I assume means any type of MPEG?? So how do you get MPEG to still function/work in "6"? I have the latest updates to "6". but I've noticed that the "volume" of the recording is not as loud as it used to be so assume that MPEG is no longer functioning?? thanks |

MPEG2 is a third party codec that Nero has to pay a patent for. If you have a Retail version of Nero 6, then MPEG2 is part of the bundle and is unlocked by your Nero 6 Retail serial key. If you have an OEM version of Nero 6, then they more than likely only provided you with a 30 day trial for the MPEG2 encoder, to save costs. The only solution is to purcahse the MPEG2 encoder from the Nero website. But if you are able to burn a DVD Video disc, then you have MPEG2 enabled already. The audio portion of a DVD-Video disc is either Dolby or PCM format, and that is a different codec. By default, we used PCM format for Nero 6 as there was not patent fee for that free codec, only with Dolby would a fee be associated, and if you did not have the codec you woul get no audio at all when playing a DVD-Video disc that had it's audio in Dolby format. So any volume issues would be computer releated, not somthing to do with Nero and codecs. Regards, Craig |
