I think you're going to have to ask tech support.
Are you wanting to create a DVD that plays in a blu-ray player or a standard DVD player? I'm asking because I don't see a reason to convert a AVCHD to MP4 if you want a DVD that plays in a blu-ray player. For that, you would just use AVCHD, DVD in Nero Video. For the second option, just create a DVD-Video in Nero Video. |

Hi and thanks for your reply. I am converting a DVD title to MP4 to play on my computer. A simple operation in Nero 10 using Recode. It does work in the latest version of Recode - but not with 2 passs (at least not for me). Another frustrating process with a Nero upgrade!!
Has anyone tried and succeeded with 2 pass encoding of MP4's.? Thanks Joe |

The only similar file I have is a .mts (blu-ray). I imported it into Recode and the output profile was automatically mpeg-4 with profile settings of mp4, AVC H.264. All I did was change the profile to 2-pass and encoded. Worked fine.
sorry I don't have a .mt2s (AVCHD). |

I'm encountering the same error with Recode 11 every time I try to recode a DVD to AVC H.264 with 2-pass. Looks like a bug specific to version 11. Same DVDs recoded to AVC H.264 with 2nd pass work with Recode version 9.
How do bugs like this make it through QC (assuming Nero does any QC!). Incredible. Needless to say there are going to be a lot of unhappy customers (at least the ones who haven't already given up on Nero). |

We have to be careful about the use of the word "bug". As I mentioned, I don't have any problems with it but I'm outnumbered 2:1.
If you don't mind sharing, you could save the video file from the DVD to your hard drive and cut it to less than 400 mb. Upload it to hotfile.com. Then post the link here. I could then test it on my system. It's possible that if you tried to recode the actual video file using 2-pass, it might work. If you don't want to do that, send an e-mail to tech support. They'll also want to test one of your files. Wither |

Same problem here...fails on 2nd pass. Works fine in Nero 10 Recode. Sent tech support a ticket and received the following reply.
thank you for your e-mail. Best RegardsI guess we'll have to wait for them to fix the bug. |

Thank you for posting the response. Now we know there is a "bug", even though they don't want to call it that.

That's funny because I had no problem getting this error.
I was having issue converting DVD to Mp4 so I decided to simply complete format and reinstall windows 7 from scratch. And This is the error I get when trying to do any conversion! Let me repeat this is a fresh copy of Windows 7 x64 bit and I'm running very little on the machine. So Yes this is a BUG a big BUG and it's bugging the hell out of me! I didn't have this problem with Nero version 8-10 so what Up? It's also annoying when tech support refuses to confirm bugs like this one. |

I don't know how you guys do it. If I reformat my hard drive and reinstall the OS, it takes me three days or more to recover because of all the software I have to reinstall and then update. Nowadays, if you have a retail installation disc for the OS, all you need to do to fix the OS is to do a repair.
Were you using 2-pass when you get that error. If so, Nero has acknowledged the problem. If not, you should send them an e-mail. |

Today, I tried using Nero Recode as an exercise. I recoded a small slideshow from DVD into several formats successfully. Then I tried a 25 minute slideshow that I made using Kwik Media last month. It failed making an MP4 file with the following error message:
"Nero Recode cannot build encoder graph because a component is missing or cannot be accessed. Please reinstall Nero Recode and try again." I did not reinstall anything. I did repeat the attempt. It succeeded. Since I didn't change any defaults, I think both of these tests used single pass encoding. Later, I tried again using 2-pass encodig. It succeeded. Along the way, I discovered that the program puts temp files in "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp" instead of "N:\Nero Temp" as I set in the options. Also, the word "Pause" appears to mean "Stop." The only option I can see is to restart which starts from the beginning. Also, if the mouse is hovered over the word "stopped" after the filename, a little window pops up and says "Cancelled by user," not "Paused by user." Summary: 1. Nonrepeatable error using 1-pass encoding (screenshot). 2. Recode doesn't use assigned temp folder. 3. Stops instead of pausing (screenshots before and after and magnified). System: Nero 11, Windows XP, SP3. I just did a reinstall of the entire Nero suite yesterday using 'Nero-11.0.15202.exe' followed by an update to Nero Recode. That brings me to a fourth observation. Recently. after installing a host of updates to an installation using 'Nero-11.0.15200.exe', I went to chat and asked about release notes. They assured me there would be some coming from their experts. I keep looking here: http://www.nero.com/enu/nero11-resources.html with no success. No dates! And, I don't know how to correlate those numbers with my installation. If you made it this far, take a break! (And, thanks). ** Found my Nero Recode Version: 5.0.13800.37.100 This post has been edited by ArmandLiberi: Jan 22 2012, 02:42 AM |

wither:
Since this issue was so random, I was waiting to see what happened here. However, I did submit this latest occurence to tech support on January 30th. Also, I went onto chat and requested an update on the status of my other submitted issues as you suggested. That apparently resulted in a response that I received this morning about the Facebook uploads. (See that thread). Nothing has arrived on other issues. |

As noted above, using a Samsung External DVD Writer, Model SE-S084D, I get:
http://ArmandLiberi.my.nero.com/blog/7492453 If you are using this or a similar USB drive successfully, please reply. If you get the same sort of random failures, that would be really helpful, too. |

I installed the Nero 11 update yesterday:
1. The "cannot build encoder graph" errors are now ""cannot transcode source file because it is not valid .." errors. 2. It "needed to close" this morning. 3. When it "needed to close", the error reporting froze. 4. I had to end Recode using Windows Task Manager and then restart my computer. That error report succeeded and was sent to MS. So, it appears worse! I basically wrote this post to ask for help in finding a list of the "corrections" made to each of the Nero programs for this update and the two preceding updates. Anyone? The only place to see what's changed is at nero.com in the notes. I didn't look but they haven't been posting them lately.
Anyone :) |
