I cannot restore anything from a backup disc with Backitup under Windows 7. The files are there. I try to open the catalog on the last disc with Nero Backup and it reads it, but when I click the right-arrow key to go to the next step. Nothing happens.

Once it did prompt me for the destination directory, but every directory I selected got the error message "Please select the correct directory."

I should mention that this is a backup made with Nero 6 Backup. The file giving me problems is the disc catalog .NBI file, located on the last disc in the backup set. BackItUp reads it, but doesn't do anything with it after that.

Any help appreciated!

Regards,
Rob

Losing Half My File

I have created several MP3 files from interviews on cassette tapes. The sessions are approximately 45 minutes long each. When I try to burn the resulting MP3 files to a CD using Nero 8, the files are only about 1/2 there - for instance the interview MP3 on my hard drive is 49min 12 sec and even though the application reports that this file length is to be burned, the file on the CD is 24 min 36 sec long. Any suggestions? Thanks

I attempted to copy a show from a standalone TiVo in my house to the LiquidTV software. After waiting a long time, the show transfer had completed and I went to play it. I heard sound, but saw absolutely no video. In case it matters, I was using the free downloadable trial of LiquidTV.

Windows colour scheme and Nero 9 Reloaded

I just bought and installed Nero 9 Reloaded onto my upgraded Windows 7 machine. While using Nero Vision to burn DVDs in the background, if I start a program that activates UAC I get a message that Windows has changed to the Basic colour scheme, citing Nero as the cause with a Process Identifier (PID): 2052. Does anyone know why this happens, I seem to remember the same occurrence happening now and again with Nero 7 and Vista, would I be right in thinking it has something to do with the video output frame in Nero Vision?

My graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GX2 with the latest drivers installed, I thought it worth mentioning as it may have something to do with the message.

I have googled, read the forum, used the clean tool for version 8, compressed my disk, cut off my anti-virus and I cannot get this to work correctly! I have crossed my fingers and toes, held my tongue right and NOTHING works!!! I have never experienced such frustration. I previously had a version of Nero - I think it was 6 as it came already with my computer so I guess I have some remnants or something that I can't find.
Trying to learn how to do all of this with virtually no manual is difficult and leaves me at the mercy of your help. Thanks in advance. I exported my video (twice in 2 different formats to learn what the difference is) in vision to my hard drive so that I could use it in say windows media player on the same computer. (last time I tried media player, the files disappeared from nero). So I look in the exportedvideo file in the nero folder and it is empty. I don't understand where these go. Yet there is now a folder under "my docs" named "Video_TS" and in it are 2 sets of files (3 each) each with the video, the back up, and the movie info. Also, now there are I guess the same in the nero folder but not in the exported folder. Where do the files go or are stored when exporting them to the same computer hard drive.

I loaded pictures and video's into nero from my sony handycam. That worked fine. Then I tried to use the pictures in window media player, the pictures disappeared from nero. I tried to reload from my camera and nero says that they have already been loaded once and won't let me reload them. How do I get nero to let me reload pictures or video's for that matter a second time when I make a mistake the first time? ( I'm glad that I didn't erase the pictures from my camera yet) It is a nice feature that nero recognizes the previous video's etc. so you can move to the ones that haven't been added yet, but I just don't see in the manuals any info for getting around this temporarily.

HOw do I do a simple fade to black at the end of a title?

I'm trialling Nero, and want to fade out a title on the DVD (which has more than one film on it). Can't see how to do this from the menu. Is there a way? There seems to be all sorts of so-called sexy effects, but nothing simple.

Also I'd like to fade out the audio track at the same time. I assume I have to save the audio, fade it out using a wave editor and re-import it. How does one do the re-import please?

I need to know quite soon as I've wasted far too much time with the import problems I had and the trial ends on Friday.

I would like to be able to control the running features of any DVD I burn.
How for example do I specify the a DVD should just start without the viewer having to select 'Start'. Ok, this seems to be the default.
Is there somewhere that I can opt for the DVD to stop at the end, as opposed to looping back to the beginning and starting again ?

I've just started using Nero 9. My OS is Windows 7 and my machine is very modern.

I would look this up in the manuals, but the option to download them from the web is inoperative and viewing them on-line isn't always convenient.

The Ancient Mariner ~

Burn progress Box: Unexpected Error - Debugger Stopped Before End.txt

... With Nero Burning Rom - Version 9 (9.4.17.0)

Has anyone noticed that when you - Check "ON", "Verify Written Data" Option, that the following occurs:

In the Burn Progress Box/Window, right next to "Status:" in the middle of the window, the following message flashes by very quickly before the Burn Progress Window finishes its processing ( you have to watch the center line of the progress window very carefully to read the below message, before it flashes on by):

"Status: Unexpected Error - Debugger Stopped Before End.txt"

But, next the the Burn Summary Window is displayed and it shows that Write Verification - Completed Successfully and that the Burn Completed Successfully.

Also, I printed off the Log File and it also indicates "Data Verification completed successfully", as well as "Burn Process completed successfuly". There are *NO* Error messages in the Printed Log and there *No* Error messages in the small Burn Summary Window that appears at the end of the Burn Process. ....... The strange message of "Status: Unexpected Error - Debugger Stopped Before End.txt", only appears (very quickly) in the Burn Progress Window, just before the Window is replaced with the small Burn Summary Window.

Question: What does this message mean ? Did a real error occur or did the burn and write verify process complete successfully ?

I am always leary whenever I see a message with the phrase "Error" in it !

Unable to burn DL DVD movies in Nero Express 8

I have the following configuration:

Dell Inspiron 530 running Windows XP pro SP3
Two DVD drives, both capable of burning DL DVDs. Both drives are SATA, one came with the 530, the other is a Lite-ON iHAS220-6 Lightscribe drive I added.
I have Nero Essentials 8 which came with my Lite-On drive. I'm using Nero Express 8.3.6.0
My media is Memorex DVD+R DL discs

I've tried direct burn to the disc, making a Nero .nrg image onto the hard drive first and burning from that, making an .iso image on the drive from Nero and trying to burn that, making an .mds image from Alcohol 120% and trying to burn that, mounting the Alcohol .mds image onto a virtual drive and making a Nero .rg image from THAT and burning that to a DVD. At first I was getting failures, always during 'Burning layer 2'. The last three discs I made said successfully completed, but won't read on any DVD player or drive, including the drive that burned it. So I'm not sure what's going on.

What I want to know is how do I make this work? I've tried different software, different drives, and I would hate to have to go out and buy a bunch of different media to find out if that's the problem. I spent $40 for these DVDs and so far I've made about $15 worth of frisbees!! Please help me!

I kinda wanted it because I am having some problems burning data on my DVD-RW Pioneer.
Forgot to mention my Nero is 9.4, or something similiar, I know it is Nero 9.

Oh and I have a question about Burning Rom. When using the Burning ROM, the options are ISO, UDF or ISO/UDF. Which one is the Data option and which one is for burning ISO? From what I can tell the ISO is like Data, but then how do I burn an .iso file?

Thank you

[Solved] Naming a disk

I get so aggravated with Nero. It may be fine software, but it is absolutely not intuitive. It seems like it was engineered by some who want to keep the secret in the family.

I'll go for hours and hours trying to accomplish what should be a simple task.

The latest hang up is I'm trying to burn some family pictures to disc for my siblings. The format of the files I wish to share are mostly tif although there also are jpg doc RTF gedcom and other assorted formats.

I chose Express as probably the most appropriate program, Data and DVD, because I have almost 14.7 G to share.

Apparently, I have used Express previously, because I spent the first hour trying to figure out how to get “FLA09” out of the title bar. I finally accomplished that finding options and unchecking remember last label.

And, I will surely spend the next hour trying to figure out how to label my new compilation something other than my disk. I don't want lightflash or labelflash or joliet iso, I simply want to know how to change the name that appears in my computer when I insert the disk in the drive.

When I click on the title or label bar, it turns highlight blue, but no amount of typing or deleting or right clicking has any effect. The drop down arrow, simply produces a highlighted “My Disk."

Nero may be good stuff, but its harder than heck to use. And I haven't found the help to be much help, either.

One would think, inserting a name for a disk would be easy and intuitive. How does one do it in Nero Express?

Fit a Audio Duration in Make a Movie in Nero 9 Trial

Hi, I am using Nero 9 Trial to determine if I want to upgrade from Nero 6.

I want to be able to add pictures into Make a Movie (along with videos and audio) and add text & effects to both the pictures and the video, as I wasn't able to do that in Nero 6. By being able to do that, I had hoped I could have one continuous title of all pictures and video for a specific project of mine, and then add audio so it will play the entire length of the title, in the background. But, I am finding that my audio duration is longer than my pictures and video. In other words, it doesn't fit it to match.

In Make a Slide Show, in both Nero 6 & 9, there is a "Fit Slide Show duration to audio duration." This times the slide show, regardless of how many, or how few, pictures there are, to the audio length. So, that is what I want to do in Make a Movie, but there is no "Fit Movie duration to audio duration" as I expected. (There is only "Fit to available space" in When Adding Effects of timeline (as well as "snap timeline... and Use time-code....")neither of which helps.)

Again, I know I can do this in Make a Slide Show, but in Make a Slide Show, you cannot add text and effects above the pictures. You can only use the Properties selection on a picture and add a header and footer. That is not enough space and it is static. I want movement and a lot of space to write in information above the video or picture.

Please advise if I am missing something in Nero 9 which will enable me to do what I want. Otherwise, I can't see any big difference (for what I am doing) in justifying the expense to upgrad to Nero 9.

Thanks,mickpick2

Photos Reverse Order When Importing From Disc

What a surprise when I imported a Nero Slide Show from Disc! When I edited the title, the first photo was the really the last photo. They had all been reversed; the first photo was last. However, when I played the imported video in Showtime, all slides were in the proper order. I imported from a previously burned Nero Vision Slide Show in an attempt to combine the earlier show into a new one. Is there a fix for my problem.
P.S. I'm using Nero 9, Vision 6.4.17.0

(i have a 16X burner, how do i enable that speed?)
-video quality was lacking. i wanted to set the highest quality possible, but im pretty sure i goofed. at least i hope this software is capable of better results!

notes: i have Nero 9 Reloaded but all i am using right now is Nero Visual.

please let me know what settings i can change to make my video the best it can be. thanks!

Still, the notation in the lower right reads "Total slide show duration: 0h 00m 00s (17 pictures).
And, of course, the slide show will not play in the preview/Playback Window, although individual pictures will appear if I select them in the timeline.
I hope from this labored description some kind person will point to what I am overlooking.
It's the first time i'm trying to use this forum. I've written a topic but it won't let me post it. Every time i click on post new topic it keeps saying 'You must enter a post'. I don't know if this will work or if it will do the same. I'm going mad! How do you post? What can be wrong with the thread I'm trying to start?

Update: Wow this one seems to have worked and the post was posted without any problem so why not the other. I wrote a few lines and copied and pasted two log files in the other. so why does it keep telling me you must enter a post?? Is there a word limit or something?

New update: Somehow it worked after trying a few more times. I still don't know what was wrong. Thanks anyway

How Do I Make A Text Video In Nero Vision For You Tube?

Hi All,

Total newbie here.

I want to make a text video with an opening text scrolling title followed by frames of text with a background colour selection to upload to You Tube. As well as that what would be the setting to give people enough time to read each frame and how would I do it? An option to include a photo image at the end would be useful. Can someone be very kind and explain what to do, but in very simple terms as I am not a computer afficinado?

Help very much appreciated,
Thanks,

sara.

I downloaded Nero 9 and when it gets to the installation of LightScribe it fails - time and time again. I cannot find any help lilne or way to contact tech support to get help. What do I do. To make matters worse I started working with a video I made for a Concert Audition that is due November 15. The "easy" program that came with the new DVD disk drive didn't do what I needed and now my original video from the camera won't play on a video machine, or any other video media player on my computer. It will still play on Nero Express Essentials.

Software appears to be a work in progress. 99.00 per year is way to much to pay for guide data. TAke a look at the competition. MCE, BeyondTV, SageTV, MythTV, GPVR, guide data is free are about 20.00 per year. I llove the Tivo UI and the AI, but not that much.

Nero Vision 4 only Mpeg-2 Codec Help!

Hi,
I started to use Wndows 7 x64 on my laptop and desktop and have the same problem on both. I'm using Nro 7 Ultra Edition and Nero Vision 4 and from now on when I start Nero Vision 4 and add video file I can't no longer in options choose codec. When I go into Options and in DVD-Video it just stands MPEG-2 and box is grayed out. I don't understand why? I was still some weeks ago using Windows XP and didn't had any problems with this (could choose MPEG-2, MPEG-4, and so on). When output is MPEG-2 picture is like hacking a bit. Why when I want to make Video DVD I can't choose another codec anymore? Plus preview window doesn't show anything while transcoding. Plese help guys. I really don't know what to do.

BackItUp now included with 9?

Hi,

I purchased Version 9 at the end of July when I did an upgrade on my PC and thought that I would upgrade Nero also. I have used Nero over the years to backup all my confidential files and never thought anything of the upgrade until I tried to read my backup DVD's onto my new PC. Please read my posts from July 30th here. After all the hassle I went through and now they are giving the BackItUp software free with the upgrade. What gives? Can I now get the BackItUp software or are they just doing this to put salt in the wound. I don't get the marketing strategy.

Is it possible to get the upgrade because I still need to be able to read my old backups?

Bob
